Martinique Gourmande 2017

With the aftermath of Hurricane Irma in The Caribbean, the best way to support the islands, is to go be a tourist there as soon as things clear up and the airports are back in operation. If you can’t organize a Caribbean getaway for now, you can certainly take part in Martinique Gourmande, a culinary festival happening right now at 29 bars and restaurants in Montreal, plus 7 in Quebec City. Get a taste of the Caribbean through culinary workshops, dishes and cocktails inspired by the Creole country until Sept 24th at participating restaurants and bars. Another great way to try Martinique’s cuisine is to make it yourself! As a teaser for the festival, I received a Foot Trip To box full of dry ingredients and recipes to inspire a Martinique gourmet night at home. I took the grocery list provided in the box and picked up the fresh ingredients needed to make a meal for two. We started our Martinique experience with a rum cocktail called ‘Ti Punch. It was so good that I’ve made many more since. If you do order one of the Food Trip boxes, you could be the lucky winner of a trip for two to Martinique! Find out more about the Montreal company Food Trip To here. One last thing, be sure to enter to win a trip for two to Martinique on the Martinique Gourmande website here. You can even increase your chances by getting a code from one of the participating restaurants and bars.

Enjoy and good luck!

Btw, at the media launch of Martinique Gourmande, I won a trip for two to Martinique! I can’t wait to visit but I think I’ll wait until the weather is so cold in Montreal that I will be happy to get away. Until then, I will enjoy Martinique Gourmande! Photos: David Giral
