Ladies, put away the Kim Crawford, it’s time to try another Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand! At a wine tasting at Maison Boulud, I tried WhiteHaven’s 2012 Sauv Blanc, which is fairly new to the SAQ, and I loved its heady notes of grapefruit which were perfectly paired with a lobster, grapefruit, fennel and avocado entrée. If you’re like me and love grapefruit anything, you will definitely love this wine.
We also enjoyed WhiteHaven’s 2011 Pinot Noir which packed more of a punch than other Pinots I’ve tried. It was served with spicy chicken which married well with the spicy and smoky oak flavour of the wine.
Both wines are divine and affordable. I suggest you pick up a bottle of each at your next visit to the SAQ.
Cheers!
