Last week I enjoyed a staycation at the Germain Hotel because NESPRESSO had invited me to enjoy a good night’s sleep followed by a delightful morning with the team to learn more about the new grand cru coffees – Solelio & Giornio for the VertuoLine machine.

The staycation came at the perfect time because that evening I was attending the opening of ELEGANZA at the McCord Museum, which is just a block away from the hotel. Not only that, I was also offered a gift certificate to the gourmet and well-known restaurant Laurie Raphaël at the Germain. After the glamorous cocktail at the museum, we slowly made our way back to the hotel where I kicked off my heels and then ordered an incredible dinner to our room from the restaurant.

I also invited my furry friend to enjoy a staycation at the hotel with us (did you know that the Germain takes pets?) We were all so spoiled, thanks to my love for Nespresso!
As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I noticed that Nespresso had installed a VertuoLine Evoluo in my room (normally you will find one of the OriginalLine Nespresso machines in your room at the Germain). And the latest capsules, Solelio and Giornio!
Being already quite familiar with the VertuoLine machine because Nespresso had sent me one to test at home, I quickly made myself one of the new grand cru coffees. What I like about the VertuoLine is that it is made for North American coffee lovers who enjoy a big mug of coffee in the morning (or any time of the day), compared to the smaller espressos that our European friends enjoy. If you watch the short video below, you’ll see the difference between a coffee made with my Inissia, a machine from Nespresso’s OriginalLine and a coffee made with the VertuoLoine. My guy prefers the big cups of coffee and I prefer a short espresso, but luckily – the VertuoLine can make both, you only need to buy the corresponding capsules.

Speaking of capsules, Nespresso offers a wide selection of coffee for both machines. The new grand crus Solelio and Giornio for the VertuoLine have lower levels of intensity which is perfect for a long pour (and if you like to drink multiple coffees without too much caffeine).

After a good night’s sleep at the hotel, I woke up early because I had to meet the Nespresso team and the other guest bloggers in the lobby at 8am. After enjoying a nice cup of Giornio, I took my dog for a walk on the nearby McGill campus. Being a real morning person, I’m glad I took the time to enjoy a quiet moment in the sun with my fur buddy.

I then left with Nespresso for a breakfast at the ITHQ where Montreal’s darling sommelier, Elyse Lambert officially presented the new grand crus. We enjoyed our coffees paired with cereal bars made by the Ricardo team.

I had such a wonderful evening, night AND morning thanks to Nespresso and I hope my experience will inspire you to take the time to enjoy your mornings, whether you have a Nespresso machine or not. Although, I must say I find that my machine saves me so much time in the mornings! It’s my favourite time of the day, so I am grateful when I don’t have to use a complicated method just to get a great cup of coffee.
