Montreal’s Sofitel is celebrating this Valentine’s Day with a special menu for two either in their dining room at the Restaurant Renoir or as part of a romantic staycation package at the hotel. I had the pleasure of receiving the menu at home this weekend to be able to share it with you. Conceived by Executive Chef Olivier Perret and Pastry Chef, Clément Tilly, the menu is full of rich flavours sure to please you and your partner this Valentine’s. Below is a glimpse at this gourmet meal for two ($190 for two, or starting at $390 for the staycation package).
Bouchées (small bites) from the menu : foie gras and smoked eel, maple-lacquered octopus, salmon gravlax and candied orange, crispy potato and pickled vegetables with sweet garlic whipped cream.
First course: foie gras au torchon, maple cracker and homemade brioche.
The main course: Braised beef short ribs and porcini mushrooms, cream of smoked celery root and root vegetables simmered with maple and thyme.
I can confirm, the braised beef was delicious! Not a morsel was left on our plates.
For dessert, the most elegant heart-shaped cheesecake made by Clément Tilly is composed of: a light cottage cheese mouse with blueberries and lime on a crispy shortbread base.
