Dandy Cocktails

Making cocktails is a lot like cooking, you look in your fridge to see what ingredients you have and then, if you’re like me, you Google a recipe based on the key ingredients you have. If you don’t have quite all of the ingredients required in the recipe that you want to make, you improvise. Or, you make a quick run to the corner store. Last week, I received a bottle of Dandy gin from Domaine Lafrance along with a few more of their products which are all apple-based. I also recently received some really nice mixology syrups from Bar Le Lab, so I invited a girlfriend over for dinner and drinks and got ready to make a couple of killer gin cocktails. Both are really easy to make and are as speakeasy-worthy as can be. Cheers! Cucumber Fizz by Bar Le Lab
This one was a no-brainer, because I had all the ingredients on hand. Grab a cucumber and a cocktail shaker!

Ingredients:
2 oz gin
1 oz fresh lemon juice
1 oz simple syrup (you can make your own by boiling sugar and water, or you can order some here)
2 slices (lengthwise) of cucumber
Soda water
Line a high ball or low ball glass with the cucumber slices.
Shake the first three ingredients in a shaker filled with ice.
Pour into the glass and top up the drink with soda water.Princesse Pommettes
I made up this cocktail based on a recipe by Domaine Lafrance, but I swapped some of the ingredients for what I had on hand. This is another lovely and slightly fizzy cocktail with a beautiful blush hue.

Ingredients:
1.5 oz gin
1 oz fresh lemon juice
1/4 oz orgeade from Bar Le Lab (almonds, sugar and orange flower water)
2 oz of Domaine Lafrance’s rosé sparkling cider*Chill a martini glass and fill your shaker with ice
Add the gin, lemon juice and orgeade and shake
Pour into a chilled martini glass and top up the cocktail with the sparkling cider*
*Substitute the sparkling cider with any type of pink bubblyEnjoy! (Responsibly)

Dandy Gin and the Sparkling rosé cider are available at most SAQs and at Domaine Lafrance.
