In my last post, I shared how to decorate an elegant Easter table, but today, I want to share our Easter brunch setting from last year. Since it was only my guy and I celebrating, I decided to see if I could get a number of tulips to split up into smaller bouquets to deliver to friends who were quarantining at home. I called Chez Louisette Fleuriste at Marché Atwater because all Montreal florists were being told to close shop as the Quebec government had decided they were a non-essential service. I bought all the tulips she had left, which allowed me to make up five bouquets for friends and still have plenty left over to brighten up our Easter table.
I switched out my grandmother’s embroidered tablecloth for this vintage Tiffany & co. tablecloth that I’d found on Craigslist. I only paid $20 for it!
Again, I used different vases of varying heights and shapes to display the tulips. The scalloped milk glass vase in front was a gift from my friend Nathalie.
For brunch, I decided to keep it simple and very European. Hard-boiled eggs for me and soft-boiled for my guy. I had made eight mini versions of my Swiss braided bread recipe to give to my friends with their tulips and set three aside for us. A fruit salad, slices of Polish sausage and a wheel of Dutch cheese add colour to the table.
I love how the mix of china compliments the colourful print of the tablecloth.
Tulips & Tuna
The next day, for Easter Monday, we removed the top tablecloth and had a seared tuna steak dinner. The tulips had really opened up and made the table feel all the more festive. Tip: if you want to have your tulips look like this for Easter, be sure to buy them earlier in the week or find ones that are already quite open.
I hope you enjoyed my Easter tables!
