If the words bridal show or wedding salon make you cringe, but you still dream of a perfect wedding, then you’re probably my kind of girlfriend. You’d also be the kind of gal that Maddy K would love to lend a hand to. Maddy is a chic Montrealer with a flare for organizing events (minus the fromage, if you know what I mean), be it a wedding or just a big bash. I bet she could even do it blind-folded! So five years ago, Maddy decided to create the antidote to the traditional bridal show by creating the Bridal Boudoir Affair. While it’s still a bridal trade show, Maddy hand-picks the vendors herself and turns it into an intimate and classy event that a girl can easily navigate (cocktail in hand). When you walk into her bridal show, you feel like you’ve arrived at a fabulous party. Already hitched? Who cares! Come out anyways on Sunday and get your Gatsby (you guessed it – this year’s theme) on with a bunch of like-minded gals and go home with some party-planning ideas for your next shindig.
For those who plan on dragging along hubby-to-be, he’ll be happy to know that this year there will be a Men’s Lounge dedicated to the guy’s side of the wedding planning. (I’m picturing guys sharing cigars and scotch and strategically planning how NOT to get snagged into the whole organizing bit). If you’re having trouble convincing him to go, just mention that there will be some fine lingerie modeled during the fashion show and I’m sure he’ll change his mind.
