With November comes the onslaught of the winter blues which one could treat with light therapy or anti-depressants, but I prefer to treat mine with wine! Here are four wine events happening this month in Montreal to help us put the cheer to dreary old November.
LA GRANDE DÉGUSTATION DE MONTRÉAL – This weekend, find your glow at the 2nd “Big Montreal Tasting” where more than 200 winemakers, distillers and brewers from every corner of the world will have their wares on display for sampling. This year, Portugal is the country of honor as well as Cabernet Sauvignon wines and the various rums of the world. Some 1500 products will be offered for tasting and you’ll even be able to order your favourite private imports on site. An entire weekend of wine and spirits, now that should put anyone in a good mood!

APÉROS BORDEAUX – I’ve attended many of these soirées where Bordeaux wines are on offer for only $5 /glass and each time they are hosted at a different restaurant with chefs preparing special and affordable plates to pair with the selection of wines being served. This one is being held at the cozy Auberge Saint-Gabriel where Chef Eric Gonzalez will be serving up his own chocolate creations to go with our wines. What woman could say no to wine and chocolate?!

LE SALON DES VINS DE LAVAL – According to their website, this is THE nicest wine salon in Quebec and although it’s unlikely that I would go all the way to Laval for a wine salon – with over 100 exhibitors, a fashion and design event, and with Véronique Rivest (voted Canada’s best Sommelier for 2012) as the spokesperson – I may just make the effort!
