As the name suggests, M.Mme is Montreal’s latest and classiest wine bar. Located on Laurier West (the Plateau’s poshest street), it boasts over 600 different labels of private imports. Pair those labels with fine cuisine prepared by chef and co-owner, Stelio Perombelon and you have the perfect place for your next tête-à-tête. M.Mme could very well become your new favourite wine bar.
The decor has a sophisticated 70s vibe, with rust-coloured velvet chairs and a lot of wood paneling. I scored a table for two in the front window where I could watch the action on Laurier while sipping a very red bubbly called « Red is Dead ». When my date arrived, we chose a very nice bottle of Petit Chablis to go with the dishes we’d ordered.
The food is absolutely divine, but I had two coup de cœurs – the portabello grilled brioche sandwhich and the marinated leek, morels and kale dish. To die for. Unfortunately, I didn’t have room for dessert, but that only gives me an excuse to return sooner than later. Although, with the wall of wines that they have on display, I may be happiest with wine for dessert!
