La Roche-Posay’s Hyalu B5 is the perfect summer serum

I’ve been traveling a lot lately and I like to take as little as possible with me wherever I go. Nothing’s worse than having too much luggage or the stress of being told your carry-on is overweight. When La Roche-Posay gave me the new Hyalu B5 anti-aging serum and moisturising cream to test and review, not only was I looking forward to testing their effectiveness, but I was also happy to discover that their formats are under 100ml and perfect for my jet-set lifestyle.

From Montreal to Martinique to Bordeaux, I really put the Hyalu B5 duo to the test. I went from a comfortable climate to extreme heat and then back to a more comfortable environment, all in just over two weeks. One of the benefits that I really enjoy about the Hyalu B5 serum is that it feels very fresh and soothing, which is extremely welcome after being in the sun and wind all day. La Roche-Posay’s signature thermal spring water is a mineral-rich ingredient in both the serum and daily cream that soothes my sensitive skin and makes it feel instantly refreshed. I also detect a subtle hint of cucumber in the serum which I find pleasant and definitely not overpowering.
As for the anti-aging element of the Hyalu B5 serum, I would like to say that I saw instant results, but I would feel more comfortable sharing with you just how the serum is supposed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, if used on a regular basis.

Being over 40 means that I am certainly concerned about keeping wrinkles at bay. The way that La Roche-Posay’s Hyalu B5 serum works is that it contains two key ingredients that when combined, combat the fine lines we get as we get older. The first of the two is a unique combination of two types of hyaluronic acid, that replumps fine lines and stimulates cellular renewal. The second key ingredient is vitamin B5, which promotes the skin’s ability to naturally repair itself. When you combine vitamin B5 with hyaluronic acid, you get a kind of skin renewal boost because your skin is being encouraged to produce more collagen, which we all know, makes your skin look healthier and even more youthful.
After two weeks of using the serum and cream, my skin feels quite fresh and healthy, but I attribute my healthy-looking skin to more than just my new serum. My skincare routine and advice for adopting the Hyalu B5 serum looks like this:
Step 1. Be sure to always properly cleanse your face and neck with a cleanser that doesn’t rob you of your skin’s moisture. I use either an oil-based or hydrating cream cleanser followed by a micellar water. Some prefer to use only a micellar water to cleanse their skin. You can try La Roche-Posay’s Micellar Water Ultra for sensitive skin.

Step 2. Use a pea-sized amount of Hyalu B5 serum and gently tap it into your skin with your fingers.

Step 3. Apply Hyalu B5 anti-wrinkle daily care moisturizer. I love this moisturizer because it’s quite light and the 40ml tube is small enough to slip in my purse if I feel I need to reapply throughout the day.

Step 4. Layer La Roche-Posay Anthelios sunscreen for sensitive skin over your moisturizer to protect your skin from both UVB and UVA damage. Remember to re-apply every two hours when exposed to the sun.

Step 5. Stay hydrated! I carry a reusable water bottle with me all summer long. (PS: if you’re like me and love your wine o’clock – make sure to drink at least two glasses of water for each glass of wine).

Step 6. I’m a big fan of summer hats and will almost always wear one when it’s sunny out. In wearing a hat, I’m adding another layer of protection to my sensitive skin.
If you’re looking for a light and effective serum and skin cream for summer, investing in the Hyalu B5 duo is an affordable investment. The 30ml serum is only $49 and the daily care cream is $43. If you try either, let me know what you think!
