Step into La Société Montréal, a French bistro on de la Montagne street, inside the Loews Hotel Vogue, in the heart of the city. Last Sunday, my guy and I went to try their brunch menu. I love a fancy brunch and La Société did not disappoint. We started with a Marrakech mimosa (Prosecco, fresh-squeezed orange juice, Moroccan bitters and rose water) – served with star anise and a slice of orange – this was by far the best mimosa I’ve ever had.The brunch menu has a lot to offer and we decided to try what seemed to be the two most decadent dishes: the lobster eggs Benedict and the banana pancakes. Both were divine. The lobster Benny was made with your usual poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce, but the added meaty texture of the lobster and some buttery spinach took it to a next-level Benedict brunch experience. The side of roasted breakfast potatoes were also quite good.Yet, it was my plate of perfect pancakes that really made my day. The caramelized bananas with a hint of lemon zest were de-lish and not too sweet. The cakes were a kind of hybrid pancake-crêpe cooked to perfection. They were served in a shallow pool of corn sirup instead of maple. I enjoyed every bite. Add to that a creamy allongé in an antique china cup and we were pleased as punch with our brunch. From now on, I’ll definitely think of La Société when craving a decadent brunch!
