The Roaring Twenties, jazz, flappers and all things Art Deco are just a few of my favourite things. So when Maddy K invited me to an intimate media preview of her Great Gatsby-inspired Bridal Boudoir Affair, I simply could not say no. I skipped school and put on my best Daisy Buchanan get-up and headed to the Hyatt Regency for an evening inspired by the famous novel and its infamous characters.
Finally, the perfect occasion to wear this dress I found in my fashionista friend’s walk in!
Event and wedding planner extraordinaire, Maddy K (center) was wearing a dress from Très Chic Styling. The soon-to-be-married Abeille Gélinas (left) and Natasha Gargiulo (right) will be co-hosting this year’s Bridal Boudoir Affair.
The glamorous Roaring Twenties-inspired table set for a jet-set twenty. Menus were designed by Tartine Paperie who also does very cute wedding invites.
The musicians, Brian Harbec and friend could play or sing anything – from classics to contemporary, they had me singing along!
The inventive entrée of foie gras gnocchi prepared by Six Resto Lounge and the gorgeous floral arrangements as centerpieces by Marie Bertrand Fleurs.
The prettiest Waldorf salad ever! A deconstructed version created by Chef Simon Renaud.
Each place setting was adorned with its very own mini cake by Luisa Galuppo Cakes. The incredible wine pairings were chosen by the sommelière, Jessica Harnois. (White wine modeled here by the stylish, Anik Lacasse)
This was amazing! Inspired by bacon-wrapped tenderloin, instead Chef Simon Renaud used smoked octopus wrapped around giant scallops.
Dessert was an impressive Baked Alaska, flambéed by a Christopher Walken look-a-like right in front of us. Lolitta Dandoy shows off one of the sparkly cake pops from the dessert table.
Here’s the final and fabulous result, served with a macaron martini. (Excess is best!)
The cutest couple at the event: Abeille and Na’eem, who are getting married this August. Guess who’s organizing their wedding for them? Yes, none other than Maddy K! To meet Maddy K and some of the other amazing people who helped put this extravagant Gatsby evening together, join us this Sunday at the Bridal Boudoir Affair.
Also new this year is Maddy K’s Party Stations, like the Bubbly Bar you see in the first photo – a sparkly idea for anyone planning a party.
