Who doesn’t love Italian food? If you’re interested in trying authentic ingredients from Emilia-Romagna, the home of Prosciutto di Parma DOP, Mortadella Bologna IGP, Modena balsamic vinegar IGP and Parmigiano Reggiano DOP, then you should try one (or all!) of these three gourmet meal boxes that were created to help bring the region and its flavours directly to your home. Restaurant Fiorellino created the pizza Emilia with three key ingredients from the region, that you can order for a limited time. Réserve Culinaire, a sous-vide meal box service, created two amazing dishes (Tagliatelle and stuffed chicken Paupiette) that you just need to heat and serve and La Baia Dei Formaggi is offering a food box that includes all the ingredients to make a Piadina Romagnola sandwich that is unique to the region.
I recently attended the launch of the three boxes at Fiorellino on Laurier West where we enjoyed a lot of the food and wine that the region has to offer. I was able to leave with the meal boxes and try them at home, so here’s what to expect from each box.
Emilia-Romagna meal box from La Réserve Culinaire
Réserve Culinaire is offering two generous gourmet meals for four people in their Emilia-Romagna meal box. The pasta dish is tagliatelle in a creamy cheese sauce, using Parmigiano Reggiano DOP and little cubes of Mortadella Bologna IGP. The chicken dish is a roulade stuffed with Prosciutto di Parma DOP and Parmigiano Reggiano DOP, it also comes with Orecchiette. The meals come in individual portions, frozen and sous-vide so you only need to heat them in boiling water for 15 mins and you have a delicious and authentic Italian meal to enjoy in no time.

Emilia pizza from Fiorellino SnackBar
Fiorellino created the pizza Emilia to honour the Emilia-Romagna region. With the same amazing crust the restaurant is known for, the Emilia pizza is topped with Arugula, Prosciutto di Parma DOP and Parmigiano Reggiano DOP (the latter two ingredients come directly from the region). I can assure you, it’s a tasty choice! It’s only available for a limited time, so ask for it next time you visit one of the three Fiorellino locations or when you place your take-out order.

La Baia Dei Formaggi Piadina Romagnola Box
Located in Littly Italy, the Italian gourmet grocer La Baia dei Formaggi has been open since 1972 and was the first gourmet store to import Prosciutto di Parma DOP to Canada! To honour the Emilia-Romagna region, they’ve created a special box with all the ingredients needed to make your own Piadina Romagnola, a type of Italian flatbread sandwich. Included in the discovery box are: two different kinds of meat (Prosciutto di Parma DOP and Mortadella Bologna IGP), two cheeses (Parmigiano Reggiano DOP and Provolone Valpadana DOP), the Italian flat bread and a bottle of Modena balsamic vinegar IGP. So good! You can just add arugula and voilà you have an authentic Piadina Romagnola sandwich!
Available at: La Baia Dei Formaggi: 1715 Rue Jean-Talon E, Montréal, QC H2E 1T3
Thanks to Wine and Travel Italy for introducing me to this region and its delicious ingredients. I hope to one day visit Emilia-Romagna in person!
