MUSIC

Jean Leloup at Just For Laughs
I’ve always been a fan of this charming Quebec pop-rocker because he has a real sense of humour. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Just For Laughs Festival, Leloup is taking to the main stage tonight at the Place des Festivals. Planning to play for two hours straight, The Wolf will call up some of his best hits including my all time favourites: “I Lost My Baby” and “Je joue de la guitare.”

Tonight at 9 pm on the Grande Scène Vidéotron (Admission is FREE)
175 Sainte-Catherine Street W.

The XX at the Met
The indie-pop trio from London are back in Montreal this Sunday. And, thankfully they are playing at the Metropolis because watching them play last time at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier was really just too weird. Their brand of hip, swoon-worthy, make-out music is much better in standing-room-only venues.

Sunday, July 29 Métropolis at 8 pm
59 Sainte-Catherine E.

OSHEAGA 2012 (think Canada’s Coachella)
I am very excited because this is the first time I’ll be heading to THE music festival! A three-day music-orgy of popular and emerging artists including these bands I’m most looking forward to: Florence + The Machine, MGMT, Feist, Snoop Dogg, Garbage, and Fun. Not only is the music scene spectacular, I’ve seen all kinds of festival fashion online from previous years so I’ve already planned my entire Osheaga wardrobe. Watch for my street style posts the following week!

Aug. 3–5, Parc Jean Drapeau

Gone Fishing!
I love fishing, but I don’t own a boat or the gear (my closet being dedicated to dresses and heels and not rods & reels), so I was thrilled to find out that there’s a new guided fishing service in the Old Port. Discover the Saint Lawrence River by catching your dinner and eating it on one of the private islands along the river. BYOW and enjoy your walleye with a glass of wine while you drink in the spectacular views. If you want to get even fancier, your guide can arrange for your catch to be cooked up at an Old Montreal restaurant. Sound fishy? Not at all, it’s for reel!
