EVENT / SUNDAY NIGHT DINNER

On the last Sunday of each month, Resto Biarritz on Saint-Laurent serves up a family-style dinner at one long table. Get to know your neighbours while enjoying a very fine meal. I tried their Thanksgiving-themed dinner last month while rubbing elbows with some lovely Plateau-ians and it was incredible. This Sunday, they are serving up an Alsatian extravaganza entitled “Choucroute Garnie” which I’m sure Chef Stéphane Bouzaglou will elaborate into a gourmet version of this typically simple, but meaty dish. His turkey stuffed with sausage that I had last month was non-traditional, but oh sooooo good! Let him surprise you with his up-scale sauerkraut this Sunday for the modest price of $35!

Ghosts of Montréal (Halloween version)
Get your ghost on with a special 90-minute walking tour of Old Montreal and meet some of its ghosts and urban legends (professional actors in costume). A very hair-raising way to learn about the city’s history!

October 26-27-30 and 31st at 6:30 pm
$22 for adults, $18.50 for students, $12.50 for children
By reservation only: 514-844-4021 or toll free: 1-800-363-4201

Let Montrealers eat cake! The city’s first Cake Show & Competition is for those who want to learn how to bake and decorate, or those like me who just want to eat cake. Check out cake decorating contests, participate in a class, or weigh in on the decision of who’s got the best cupcakes in Montreal! There will be more than cake at the show since one of our favourite sweet table designers is on the list of participants: Leslie Passerino from Kréavie.ca (be sure to pass by her table – it’s sure to be very Alice-in-Wonderland-esque!)

October 27-28
Vanier College Sportsplex
St-Laurent, Quebec.
